I made a trip to FOB Sharona today. Like most FOB’s here in Afghanistan, the pace is a little slower and much more relaxed. It is always a nice break to be away from the hustle and bustle of Bagram. Here are some photos I took on the way:

This picture is from above Kabul near the international airport.

This picture is looking east into the Tora Bora region of the White Mountains. The terrain is similar for about fifteen miles north and south, and seventy miles east and west, extending into Pakistan.

Hi Joel, I wanted to email you, but I couldn’t find an address.
I wanted to let you know you that we featured your story on We Beat Debt! and you can read it here.
We want to inspire others with real life stories of those who beat or are beating debt, and well, your story is simply amazing. Thank you for telling it. You’re a real inspiration!

I just shared the name and address of a soldier at FOB Sharona with a young boy who wanted to adopt one of my group’s central Kentucky soldiers. Thanks for sharing these photos! I’m going to share this site with his mom to show them a little of what it looks like where they’re writing and sending packages to!
