Since Amy has made me tech savvy, I have set up several different Google News searches to keep up with events; and then I subscribe to the search which allows me to read the latest news in my feed reader. I have a search set up for Afghanistan, one set up for joelmaxwell.com, and one for Roy Blunt.
Today when I clicked on Roy Blunt there were two stories; the first was Mr. Blunt complaining about the democrats spending too much in a House Bill. The second was about a pure pork earmark that Blunt pushed through for $1,000,000 for the MARET center at Crowder College in Neosho. I am sure that this MARET center is a good thing; however, what I don’t like is someone spending my money without asking me for it. Most colleges and universities have fund raisers for building projects where people choose to give. Here, our congressman who speaks out against spending decided for us that we needed to donate a million bucks.
Earlier this week Mr. Blunt gave a speech about how the Republican party could win back the majority; I don’t recall being hypocritical on spending as one of his points.

I agree the Republican Party can win the majority back. The problem is does any one know where the Republicans are at; the ones that truly believe in less government more security and lower taxes? Will someone take this guy to Wal-Mart so they can pick up their back boon on isle 5. I’m filing a missing persons report on those Republicans. I hope we can find them before it’s too late for us all.

I personally find it funny that funding for MARET is coming from Republicans. Don’t get me wrong, I am a graduate of the Alternative Energy training of Crowder College and am thrilled to see MARET finally getting off the ground. But Republican channels are not typically where you see environmentally-friendly budget allocations coming from. I wouldn’t have minded being asked if we should put tax dollars towards it … but had I been asked I would have given a hearty YES!
